Making A Way For the Future

Education is the Future of Zambia

The future of Zambia and Sub-Saharan Africa must be based on an approach that handles the real issues now but also addresses a much longer-term and resilient strategy.

There are times when immediate relief is necessary and when it is WayMaker helps wherever possible. However, WayMaker believes in implementing strategies to assist in the medium term too by addressing things such as food security, water security and climate resilience is also necessary.

However, there must also be a long-term view that looks to ensure that Zambia is able to future-proof itself and we believe that investing in self-sustaining education initiatives is a key part of this.

WayMaker is committed to working with non-profit organisations, community leaders, and local and national governments to facilitate access to quality education either through child sponsorship or building quality education centres.

DaySpring Academy

Pre & Primary School

In 2017 Andy, the Founder of WayMaker, and his good friend Nick visited Kitwe in Zambia. There they met Joseph Mwila and his charity DaySpring.

Having visited the two orphanages DaySpring built and operated, took part in their feeding program, and saw the poverty cycle due to the lack of school places for the poor, marginalised, and forgotten they mobilised an army of people who together gave over £120,000 and together they built DaySpring Academy, a pre-school and Primary school for almost 300 children where 40% of the places are given to orphans and vulnerable children.

Secondary School

We want to extend the incredible success of the Primary School which makes a way for these orphans and forgotten children by building a secondary school where places are guaranteed, and money is not the deciding factor.

Our partners have recommissioned the architects and quantity surveyors we successfully partnered with for the DaySpring Academy to design and cost the secondary school which will reside on the same site as the pre and primary schools.

Work began in December 2022.
