Climate Change Resilience

Making A Way For Subsistence Farmers in Africa

Climate Change

Climate change has significantly affected Zambia and Sub-Saharan Africa, especially in rural areas. The most obvious challenge has been the greater impacts of droughts and water shortages. Still, more devastating can be excessive rain, bringing floods that destroy crops, infrastructure and homes, and add to the existing problems of soil erosion through run-off.

Consistent with national data altered weather patterns have also reduced harvests, even in the absence of extreme events. Together these impacts have threatened people’s livelihoods and led to serious concerns about food security. (Source: CreationCall)

Climate Change Resilience

Waymaker Africa believes that working together with key partners, such as ClimateCall, is key to helping Zambia develop resilliance to the changes and challenges of climate change.

We are actively seeking other partners already working in Zambia, or wishing to work in Zambia, in order to help subsistence farmers become more resilient by assisting them in developing better farming practices through schemes like Foundations for Farming, through diversification into Poultry Production and helping whole communities by drilling boreholes as part of our Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) initiative.

Making A Way

WaSH

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) is a key issue in Africa and is strongly linked with Food Security, Foundations for Farming and Poultry Production

WayMaker Africa is committed to partnering with rural community leaders to provide clean, fresh and free water by drilling community boreholes.
